I Love Short Sales!

A short sale is an oxymoron. They are seldom short and sometimes result in a foreclosure. In the past I detested them & rebelled at the paperwork jungle and

frustrating lack of timely lender communications.

Recently, I realized that short sales will be with us for some time. They can be a lucrative niche in a challenging market. It was time for me to experience an 'attitude adjustment'. Or, as Zig Ziglar says I had "stinkin' thinkin' and I needed a 'check-up from the neck up'.

My favorite secular book Man's Search For Meaning by Victor Frankl exhorts that in life all we can ultimately control is our attitude. Cavette Roberts became famous for saying, "Don't tell people your problems. 80% don't care & the other 20% are glad you have problems". My short sale attitude needed to change.

Years ago, my son Brandon went out for his school's cross country team. He liked the competition, but detested running up the hills. As a proud father I shared my

running experience. A wise coach once told me, "Learn to love the hills". Anybody can run on level ground. It is the winning athlete that 'attacks' the hills and accelerates at the peak as other runners fade. Short sales became my hills to attack.

A short sale is a speed bump on the real estate road. It became imperative for me to stop resting on my laurels and attack the short sales that I was blessed to handle. The short sale tactics are dynamic and require brainstorming sessions and seminars with experienced agents and instructors.

William James said, "Human beings can alter their lives by altering their attitudes of mind". He also stated, "Do something every day for no other reason than you would rather not do it, so when the hour of dire need draws nigh, it may find you not unnerved and untrained to stand the test".
