Top Ten Tips To Have A Great 2008
1) Get a designation – Real estate agents who have a CRS after their name, on average, earn four times more commissions than agents who don’t? Outgoing referrals are usually sent to agents with the same designation as the sending source.
Stephen Covey and Abe Lincoln were both correct when they suggested to periodically ‘sharpen your axe’ if you want to ‘cut down more trees’.
2) Coach your kids – Getting to the next level may involve becoming a better person, parent, or spouse, not doing more deals. Most kids want their parent present, rather than presents from their parents. Memories last a lifetime. Hollow trophies and cheap plaques are no substitute for Slurpies with your son or daughter.
3) Learn public speaking – Join Toastmasters (www.toastmasters.org). Hone your communication, leadership, and presentation skills. The confidence you gain will help in working with buyers, and winning more listings.
4) Join a club – Circulate if you want to percolate more transactions. Join the chamber of commerce, a networking or leads group, a bridge club, tennis group, WCR, AA, AARP, or the group that meets at Denny’s for breakfast.
5) Read some books – Charles ‘Tremendous’ Jones said, “We will each be the same person next week, next month, or next year, except for the people we meet and the
books we read”. Fierce Conversations, Man’s Search For Meaning, Eat Love Pray,
The Holy Bible, and The Shack are some of my favorites.
6) Get in shape – Quit asking, “Do these pants make me look fat?” Do something about it. Read Younger Next Year. Join a Gym. Enter a Susan B. Koman race. Being a light eater does not mean eating when the sun comes up.
7) Take a class – Learn Yoga, weight lifting, Feng Shui, generational marketing, short sales, financial planning, Quick Books, cooking, or cage fighting.
8) Teach a class – Partner with a lender & title company and offer instruction on how to buy your first home, clean up your credit, or build wealth with real estate.
9) Donate some time – Spend a day building a habitat for humanity house. Help feed the poor at a homeless shelter. Talk to the elderly at a rest home. Read aloud to a group of children. Pray for peace.
